World's Slowest Terminator build finally begins
Finally, nearly one year after receiving my kit, the build is about to begin. I have spent the past 12 months running my business and in my free time, building and finishing my shop. It's just about ready to go now.
The entire shop is 4,000 sqft with a two story section set aside for office (upstairs) and machine shop down.
No machine equipment yet, so I'm using it for chassis assembly.
Still need to epoxy the floors. Waiting for warm weather. I set up a small kitchen. Great for long days on the build...
I dry fit the engine into the chassis tonight.
I am giving some thought to sectioning the main cross member (round tube) instead of raising the engine to clear the crank pulley. I know the typical arguments against it, but all things considered, I am very much inclined to do it.
I am also thinking of more or less completely scraping the factory harness in favor of aftermarket engine management and a full chassis wire loom and engine harness. I figure this is a good place to suggest such things and hear what experienced builders have to say.
I'm planning on doing all of the body work and painting too.
I'm sure I will have many questions in the course of the build. I have been impressed as I have checked out this forum from time to time and appreciate the sharing of ideas and solutions expressed here.
I don't expect to set any records in finishing the car. As the saying goes: "It's not the destination, its the journey."
